Chansoo Kim is an Assistant Professor in the department of film and animation, Hongik University, Sejong, South Korea. The main focus of his current research lies in digital character development and applications in the fields of VR, AR, and animation.
Previously, he worked as a character animator at Rhythm & Hues Studios and Industrial Light and Magic. He also served as a CG Supervisor and VFX Supervisor at Digital Idea (Seoul) on various projects in South Korea and China, such as Train to Busan and The Monkey King 2. He won the Hong Kong Film Awards for Best Visual Effects for The Monkey King 2. In addition, while at SioFic he served as the Head of Production and managed the team for short and feature animation projects, including the animated short Alex and Tumbo.
Chansoo received his M.F.A. from the Division of Animation and Digital Arts, School of Cinematic Arts (SCA), University of Southern California (USC), and his B.F.A in Visual Communication Design from Seoul National University.
