About this Course:

This course is an introduction to Background Plate preparation workflows in VFX using Nuke. The participant will gain fluency in the best practices of rotoscoping, keying, and tracking that is essential to live action/CG integration. 



*Painting Patches, Part 1

*Expansion on paint techniques (rig removal, patches, paint tool, basic matte painting)

*Keying (Primatte, Keylight, IBK, Ultimatte, Lumakeys)

*3D tracking and an intro into 3d world

*KeyLight Keyer, Keying elements over black and/or white

*Advanced Keying Demo (Splitting/Merging multiple keys)

*3D camera track

*3D Projection/Objects ( Card System, 3D Object based Projections) 

  • 3D Geo

*Breakdown of CG elements

*Using elements from element library


About Our Faculty:

Jacqueline Cooper is a Senior Compositor at Tau Films. She has been creating  imagery for film, TV, commercials, music videos, and live events for decades. Her clients include Industrial Light & Magic, Digital Domain, MPC, and Deluxe/Method Studios.  She has worked on numerous films such as: Jurassic World (2015), Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part - 2 (2011), Iron Man 3 (2013), Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows (2011), Tron: Legacy (2010). She has also worked on music videos for Santana, Justin Timberlake, Toni Braxton, Jewel, and Lisa Marie Presley.

Jackie has a B.A. in Film and Digital Media from UC Santa Cruz.
