MOD 101: Introduction to hard-surface modeling in Maya (30 hrs.)

This course will make you familiar with the requirements of a feature-level hard-surface model and the Maya modeling techniques necessary to meet those requirements. You will model an object to mid-level film specifications, with proper attention paid to precision, edge flow, overall look and level of detail. The course will cover such topics as setting up an image plane, working with scans, scaling and blocking with polygon primitives, mirroring, repeating, using Boolean operations, various beveling techniques, and applying and arranging uv’s. As a final project, you will set up and render a shaded turntable of your completed model.

Software used: Maya

Prerequisites: Basic understanding of the Maya interface or STL 100

MOD 201: Introduction to Creature Modeling in Maya (30 hrs.)

This course will make you familiar with the requirements and techniques of a feature-level creature model using Maya. You will create a polygon creature with close attention to the level-of-detail, underlying anatomy and proportion, and topology. As a final project, you will set up and render a shaded turntable of your completed model.

Prerequisites: Maya 101 or equivalent experience
