LMS 100: From Text to Film  (30 hrs.)

This course is an introduction to the interplay between literature and film. You will engage in critical analysis of the elements of literature (the novel, short story, poetry, and theater) and their transition to the language of visual media, particularly cinema.

LMS 105: Silent Comedy of Hollywood (15 hrs.)

This course offers an exploration and critical analysis of the narrative of silent comedy. Critical figures to be explored include Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton, Harold LLoyd, Laurel & Hardy, and The Keystone Cops. We will examine  both the reasons behind their universal appeal as well as how silent comedy continues to influence modern-day auteurs through visual storytelling.
